TEXT FILE TO GO WITH THE TUNE 'Steam Train to Mallaig" This tune is designed for 4 ( or more ) Pipers, and is made up of 'verses' punctuated with a 'chorus'. It starts as a solo piece in 6/8 slow time and is played by piper 1 - it then breaks into Quick time. Piper 2 joins in for the repeat and Piper 3, the second repeat and the harmonies, and finally Piper 4 ( or all other Pipers ) for the second harmonies. From here, Pipers 1 & 2 play the main tune while 3 & 4 have different harmonies which occasionally merge. Because the BMW program is as yet unable to allow entering text apart from at the top of the page - PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING to assist you in the order of play for pipers 1 - 4. BARS 1 - 8 ~ Solo Piper ( SLOW AIR ) BARS 9 & 10 ~ Solo Piper ( into QUICKTIME ) BAR 11 ~ Add Piper 2 BARS 11 - 16 ~ Pipers 1 & 2 BAR 17 ~ Add Piper 3 ( with harmonies * 1 ) BARS 17 - 20 ~ Pipers 1 & 2 ( Melody ) - Piper 3 Harmonies * 1 BAR 23 ~ Add Piper 4 ( with harmonies * 2 ) BARS 23 Onwards ~ Pipers 1 & 2 ( Melody ) - Piper 3 Harmonies * 1 - Piper 4 Harmonies * 2 NOTE :- Bars 61 & 62 in Melody are duel notes ( unable to enter with BMW ). I have entered the first ( played by Piper 1 ), - Piper 2 will play the following notes at the same time - BAR 61 = La & La BAR 62 = Lg & Lg You may find it easier, once you have printed out the tune, to write in this information in the appropriate places. Also if you have more than 4 Pipers, then you will have to work out your own approprate balances, between melody and the two harmonies. Finally - hope you enjoy the tune!
